東部拉瓦 Eastern Lawa

Noemí Rojas

Thai Lanna

Eastern Lawa

A university professor from Chiang Mai contacted our team asking about the work they have done with developing the Lawa language. He then helped to organize our team getting into three different schools and running Saturday taster classes for students who were interested in learning how to read their own language. This has led to another opening in a school where our team will go in each week and teach Lawa literacy and kids will be able to choose that subject. Praise God for the way He opens doors.

Literacy: YouTube videos for the literacy lessons have been recorded and are in post production. Upon completion of the post production, they will be uploaded to the YouTube channel. Continue to promote literacy to schools and offer to teach kids in different grades, as well as run an adult literacy class.

Scripture Engagement: A few more Lawa worship songs were recorded.

● Please pray for the Lawa team's teaching at a new school, Wang Kong School on Wednesdays.

●Thank you for praying for Greg and Rosie and their transition back to living in New Zealand. Praise God they found a car and a rented house to live in. Praise God they are reconnecting with their kids and family. Continue to pray for the Bloks as they settle and get back into a normal rhythm of work and life, while at the same time, Greg stays connected with the project, consulting for the Bible translation activities going forward.

Pastor Augusto Chávez, from the community of Soplin, actively participated in the Bible translation review process alongside native speakers of Southern Pastaza Quechua. He emotionally expressed that the translation "is well done, understandable, and clear," which fills him with hope, as now the Word of God can reach his people in a more comprehensible way.

He emphasized that this effort benefits not only pastors and leaders, but also the entire community, which eagerly awaits the completion of the project. For Having the Bible in their own language is not only a spiritual resource, but also an invaluable treasure that strengthens their faith, identity, and community life.

With gratitude, the pastor affirmed that the church in Soplin prays constantly for the translators and collaborators, so that the work may be completed soon. "We are waiting for the Word in our language," he said, "because we know that it will transform lives, bring unity, and bless our families for generations." - Noemí Rojas, water project facilitator.

● The team reviewed Romans 1-8. The review of Acts 8-28 with the native speaker was completed. Moving forward with the first draft of the book of 1 and 2 Corinthians.

● Consultant Felix approved all the notes for the book of John.

● Facilitator Yuliño has been monitoring the team and providing support in areas necessary for their progress.

● Thank you for praying for the Lord to grant health, wisdom, and strength to the team of translators, in every stage of the translation work. Thank God for His care and provision for the team of translators. Pray that He would continue to strengthen their lives and grant them wisdom to move forward in the translation work.

● Thank you for praying for the translators' families, that they may be an emotional and spiritual support, knowing that they are an important part of a work that will transform lives. Praise God for His protection over the translators' families. Pray that God will always guide them and give them encouragement and unity.

DRC - Bali / Mba

During the checking session of Romans, the team struggled to find an appropriate translated word for “grace”. Their translation consultant explained that sometimes translators need to invent new words and gave them an article about ways to do that. After serval discussions, they decided that a new compound word, “heart of compassion” was very close to what they needed. The team will be following up with the community to find out what they think.

Pray for the challenges faced by the team:

The surrounding area is becoming increasingly unsafe and the roads are in very bad shape. This makes travel extremely dangerous. There has been an unusual period of drought which has affected the paddy crop. The economy of DRC is negatively impacting all aspects of life, children's schooling and medical care.

● Consultant-checked Romans 5-16. Completed a third consultant check on 1,2,3 John.

● Added Acts and John to the app

● Recorded a hymn, a sermon and two songs.

● May God be with the translation team throughout this year so that there may be success. Grant them longevity, wisdom and good health to thrive in the ministry of Bible translation.

● Brother Bayasana Athanase, literacy teacher, he stays in the hospital for treatment, may God heal him.

● Pray for motorbikes for the staff of the translation team since this will also help in the vision-sharing activities and community checking with Bali speakers.

● May God guide the Bali team's journey for the consultant checking and the team’s safe return.

● Thank God for the success of Two Scripture Engagement workshops (Trauma Healing & Gospel and Culture).

Wycliffe Thai Foundation

Joey and Toong Pang decided to establish an Isan Oral Bible Translation Centre in Udon Thani after the language survey and pastors meeting in October 2025. They moved there with the idea of engaging the local Nong Sai Fellowship church to be part of the translation project.

The Pangs built up the relationship and volunteered to teach Sunday school, as well as help with preaching. The pastor at Nong Sai Fellowship Church is named Na. She is from Thai Yong, a minority group in the northeast. She met Christ when she went to work in South Korea and then decided to come back and pastor the Nong Sai Fellowship church. When she first heard Joey and Toong Pang share about Wycliffe’s vision of reaching the minority people, she responded, “I will let my church start praying for the unreached people groups, starting with the 20 minority groups in Isan region.” From that day on, Nong Sai Church prays every Sunday for the minority groups. Now Nong Sai Fellowship Church is part of the Isan Oral Bible Translation, taking care of Toong Pang and Joey, and supporting people to help in back translation and community check.

● The Bangkok monthly prayer meeting has been faithfully happening for a year now! Pray for the team as they hope to expand the prayer groups in Bangkok.

● Thai Christian Youth for Mission (TCYM) meets every Friday to pray for the unreached people groups. Every quarter the group invites a speaker to share with them.

● Thank you for praying for the opening of the Isan Oral Bible Translation office in September. Praise God that representative pastors and missionaries in Udon Thani attended the celebration, along with Director Wat and the Oral Bible Translation team.

● After more than 14 years of faithful service, Director Wat has informed the Wycliffe Thai board that he plans to step down from his position in March 2027. As a result, Wycliffe Thai Foundation will soon begin the process of identifying a new director to replace Wat.

Northern Thai

The Intern Tar reflects, “I have been learning a variety of things. Each activity is very useful. One memorable activity was the opportunity to teach reading and writing Lanna to students in the Pa Pao community Lanna Kids Club. When I first had the opportunity to teach the children, they were a bit shy and didn't dare to express themselves. After studying together many times, I felt a growing closeness between the Lanna team and the children. Over time, I saw the children's behavior change have improved. The children's courage to express themselves and cooperate in various activities are encouraging.”

“The parents of the children also cooperate, welcoming and dropping off their children with open arms. After completing the Kids Club summer session, the Lanna Team organized a networking activity between the Lanna team, the children, and their parents, giving them the opportunity to get to know each other and build stronger relationships… I hope the new Lanna Center will be a blessing and bring many people to know God's story [and follow] Jesus Christ.” - Intern Tar

Praise God! Over 200 students have participated in Lanna events where the Northern Thai Bible is used. Well over 100 students have taken copies of the book of John at Lanna events. The team joined an Ethno-Arts workshop with participants from seven countries. They produced good materials for use in teaching during the classes and club meetings. They choose Bible verses that are easy for the students to understand. Recently they taught Old Testament stories from Creation to the story of Moses and the Red Sea. The students are excited to retell the stories.

God opened the door for the team to move their workplace to a house in the community, close to the schools they serve. They are building great relationships with the community there.

● Project leader, Oi, hopes to help train others during a Teacher Training workshop for Prai preschool teachers.

● The team plans to teach an intensive three-day adult class at the new Lanna Center for community members.
